I have had a fluke t5-600 for about 5 years, very good durable meter. The other day when switched to the resistance setting it reads continuity and beeps even with the leads apart. The voltage and current settings work fine. Is there an easy fix or do I just buy another one. If its junk, is there a similar "better" meter that would be recommended.

you could try getting it fixed but many things like this just are not fixable anymore.

you got 5 good years out of it.

maybe it is time to treat yourself to a new one.

they are < $100 new. It is not like you did not get your money's worth out of it.

I'll bet you just need battery's , try that first,although it's a good reason to buy yourself a brand new T-5 1000......:D

If the resistance function is powered by a separate alkleak battery, that would certainly explain the symptoms.

+1
Until digital displays, that's the only thing you needed batteries in a VOM for (continuity).
