I'm very surprised I flunked this test, (again)! I scored 74; 75 needed to pass. ![Sick  ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I was confident to just shy of cocky. I know my code. Strong in all areas except Special Systems.
I'm an inspector trying to add "Electrical" to my certifications. It is certainly different.
As I write this I'm looking at the Mike Holt videos Articles 600 to 820 still with their plastic wrap. ;-(
I think my confidence came from being smooth at the Mike Holt NEC Practice Quiz (MHPQ). MHPQ was fair in the way it asks the questions. ICC NEC test plays more dirty; like they will ask for Deicing Resistance Heating element spacing(blah blah blah) where MHPQ asks the question in a methodical way that I can trace the answer back in the NEC.
I've sat on a code panel for Masonry exam development; it's hard to ask the question in a way that is both fair and challenging.
I'm not suggesting Mike should change the practice quiz or that ICC should change the exam test, I'm just complaining because I flunked again.
I'll tell you what; I do have a new respect for the MHPQ question time-limit feature; I'm going to make use of it this next time!
Has anyone else had a go of it?
I'm glad this is a difficult test' if it weren't, a lot more people would become injured.
By the way, I've learned so much on this forum. My failure would have been dismal were it not for you.
