I know this is an OSHA question but hopefully someone has the answer.

Does OSHA require protective covers on fluorescent bulbs when installed in a warehouse?

I have been able to find the requirement for food services installations only.

Thanks

I believe the rule is only for cooking areas so a warehouse would not be required to use the sleeves.

I know, I just wanted to look like I was smart :D :D

I also don't have a copy of the OSHA rules, but my thought was if the NEC doesn't require it, then OSHA probably doesn't either.

It's been a few years, but back when I was a factory maintenance tech I had to use the protective sleeves on any fluorescent tubes below a certain height; I think it was 7 feet. I'm not certain if this was just a company rule, but I think it came from some regulatory agency, perhaps our state OSHA.

Food processing (everywhere)

that also applies to the manufacture of food packages and covers raw goods, manufacturing - processing, finished goods. basically addresses all non-essential glass be compiled on a list and inspected on a routine basis, which is all part of a glass policy for the location. all part of Good Manufacturing Practices GMPs.
