Hi fellas!!
Please see the attached picture. I know something must be wrong. The fluorescent lamp is very close to the finished ceiling and is burning it (little by little). Unfortunatelly, I can't find a place in the NEC related to this, except NEC 314.25 (B). Any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks for your input.

It would help to have a better discription. Is the ceiling located between the top of the bulbs and the bottom of the fixture?

Ok guys, just in case you get confused, here is a wider picture! The lamps is not much separated from the t-bar (say 1/2 inch max.)

That is an amazing picture. It looks like the ceiling is sandwiched between the lamps and the fixture body. Is this for real? Where is this?

someone probably had the fixtures installed already and someone came and installed a new celing. probably couldnt afford to pay the electrician to come and lower the fixtures below the celing so they just built around it. probably not an electricians fault just a cheap owner

I can't even imagine what changing a ballast on those might involve. Taking out lamps, tile, and maybe even some cross tees. What a mess.

So what's above the ceiling tile?

After a few pricy ballast changes, they'll quickly realize the error of their ways...

My first reaction:

Run, Forrest! Run!

Looks like an old grocery store that been taken over by the Salvation Army (see the boxes). How 'bout a pix above the drop ceiling? Pretty please? With sugar on it?
