Fluorescent Lighting

Has anybody been aware of fluorescent lighting causing AFCI's to trip. I have heard of this happening in dorm rooms.

in the large houses that we do, almost all of the closets get fluorescent lights and we've never had one trip an arc fault breaker.

I've never seen it. Check the usual suspects - like a bootleg gnd somewhere, or a pinched wire under the ballast cover that actually is arcing.

I agree with Tony.

On fixtures that use the compact fluorescent lamps I have many times found the wires pinched between the socket itself and the metal of the fixture.
