I can not find in the NEC book if it is acceptable to use a screw-in bulb in the bathroom recessed fixture. We have been using the plug in however, they are getting pretty pricey . If anyone has any ideas please let me know

Re: Fluorescent Recessed Fixtures

RECESSED LUMINARES HAVE THE BULB TYPE AND TRIM TYPE LISTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE RECESSED CAN. IF YOUR LAMP IS LISTED, YOU CAN USE IT.

Re: Fluorescent Recessed Fixtures

Bigharv, if you are referring to using a standard recessed incandescent fixture can and installing screw-in fluorescent bulbs, for the energy saving requirement in the bathroom, the answer (at least in California) is no. The luminaire(fixture) must be fluorescent only.

Re: Fluorescent Recessed Fixtures

This is an exerpt from California's Title 24 Building Standards from the California Energy Commission -"Fluorescent lights must be hard wired and cannot contain a medium base incandescent(standard light bulb) lamp socket. This is to prevent the possibility of incandescent light bulbs being installed at a later date."

I don't know what Federal(or other State)Laws say about this....
