How bad is it to use thermostat Cable as fluorescent socket jumpers?
Say the thermostat Cable was only rated for 150 volts. Obviously the output of ballast is more than 150 volts.

Some is rated 300V tho most of it is rated only 60*C; pretty sure all fixture wiring needs to be 90*C+.
You're absolutely right for inside fluourscent fixtures. For wires that attach to sockets the Edison base (medium base) and mogul base lamps screw into, the temp rating of the insulation goes even higher. . . 125 degrees Centigrade, if I remember correctly.

Ripped it out and put the 600 volt solid 16 fixture wire....not taking any chances, thanks

Yep and those quartz halogen lamps will smoke even 120*C wire given enough time. Leads to oven heating coils are often 120*C as well.

One reason voltage rating is not printed on CL3 and CL2 cable is to keep people from doing exactly what you are asking about.
