Fluorescent to LED Change out

An office building is looking to change out the old t12 and t8 fluorescent fixtures and put in new LED fixtures. Should there be any worry about the electrical systems power factor, or do the new LED drivers solve that problem?

If your doing retrofit kits or just rewiring the fixtures the drivers on in most on the led tubes so you can just bypass the ballast and direct wire the fixture and pop in the tubes and you will be good to go. Just check to see if the tubes are single or double ended before you wire them.

Are you worried about the lights flickering? If so, I would communicate with your sales rep. I'm sure that for a purchase as large as this one sounds they would do some homework for you.

I've also found the engineering departments at Cooper, Lithonia and GE quite helpful for issues like this. I'm sure your sales rep. will put you in touch with someone.

Feit's retrofit tubes will work in either T8 or T12 with no changes. They worked great for me with no issues at all. Only downside to retrofit LEDs is they still require the ballast and is an issue if they go out. So LEDs that require the ballasts to be bypassed do have their advantages.
Worked great for me replaced T12s (just changing bulbs) I have no flicker, instant on and much better "LED" light.
