Football field lights

Hello, my name is patrick. I am a new electrical student and i was wondering about how many watts does it take to light a football field?

You do not light a field with watts, you light it with lumens. You will need to find out how many lumens are required to light a field and then determine how many watts the type of fixture will be using will require to supply that amount of lumens. This is usually done by a lighting engineer.

Here are the numbers for a recent stadium lighting job at a Division I university.
6 ea lighting towers each containing 27 HID Floodlights.
Total connected load for each tower is 64kva.
Total connected load is 384 kva.
At .9pf, that is approximately 350kw.
Lots of inrush current, too.
