I have not visited the forum lately, is there any new information on who labeled and listed
the Ford Lighting for powering a home. What are the installation requirements of the NEC that apply
to that product for powering a home?

I think it’s going to be an expensive installation.

One of my customers got his lightning a month ago, but has yet to receive his ford pro charging station. They’re giving charging credits right now.

My brother has one currently en-route to him. He asked about getting the pro power home backup, but he can’t get anyone at Sunrun to call him back. Dealer has no info, and also doesn’t know when the pro charging station will be shipped.

Basically, the installation is not essentially different than solar with battery storage, the truck being the battery. And solar isn’t a requirement.
The biggest difference is that you have 400VDC premesis wiring between the EVSE and the inverter.

The whole setup has been a logistical cluster. None of the 3 involved parties (Ford, SunRun, dealer) have sole responsibility for the customer’s successful installation. It’s been a bunch of finger pointing and ghosting.

I think that should be "between the EVPE and the inverter". To use the new term in the 2020 NEC.

Do you have a spec sheet for the EVPE/EVSE, or any other info? Is the connection to the vehicle just CCS, using the AC line for charging and the DC lines for power export?

Cheers, Wayne

You’re right, it just so happens that Ford bundles the EVSE and EVPE in the same device, the Ford Charge Station Pro.
Itks cable to the truck is a full CCS connector to access the DC battery power.

The spec sheets I'm finding on "Ford Charge Station Pro" just mention the EVSE functionality. So maybe the version with the EVPE functionality has a slightly different name?

No, that’s it. Your right they don’t talk about the return power at all. It’s just a pass through. When the home integration system (HIS) detect loss of grid, it signals the FCSP via Rs485. The FCSP then tells the truck to close the contactors connecting the HVB to the CCS port. The 400 VDC wiring back to the HIS is now live. The HIS contains the inverter. Output of the inverter goes to a transfer switch feeding a sub panel with the critical loads. Most of that is shown in the link I posted earlier. There is a glaring lack of detail about what the FCSP does during a power outage, but it’s not much.

He sent me a copy today of an email he got from ford saying the trucks are shipping without options that Ford doesn’t have the parts for. Understandable, but they are only crediting back their cost, not the MSRP price paid for the option, which is about a 20% difference.

From what I understand, at least some of those are just missing a circuit board due to chip shortage. The rest of the hardware is there and can be enabled by the dealer when chips become available.

I am installing a Ford Home Integration System. we are still waiting for the charger to show up. It is fairly straight forward. Once you see the wiring diagram, it all makes sense. There is a lot of interconnection between all the components and the home. They have 7 configurations from Ford EV charger to EV Charger+HIS+PV+ESS.

Yes. I have it all and have gone through the "certification" process, as they call it. Let me check to see what I can share. What specifically are you wanting to look at?

Sooooo, after 2 weeks of back and forth with Ford's really, really, really bad customer service people... Tada!!!

Wound up being a Sunrun glitch that was the problem. They pushed an update through and everything worked. The Ford people will not let you talk directly to tech support, BTW. You have to play telephone (if you remember that game) with a CSR intermediary and technical help.
