In a Industrial factory they have an forklift battery charger wired direct. The breaker for this is on the other side of the wall and is not in sight.Does there need to be a disconnect or a plug recep. there. Where in the code book can I find this answer?
Thanks!
Jim

In absence of an Article specific to the equipment, I tend to use Article 422 Appliances.

The problem is the definition of appliance “generally” excludes industrial occupancies, but the Scope of the Article (422.1) pulls them right back in. I think the definition needs some work.

In any case, Part III, starting in 422.30 gives excellent direction for general applications.

Corrected citation from 422.20 to 422.30

if the panel/breaker is located out of sight or in another room, i would say it would need a disconnecting means for servicing
