When looking for "P",how do you know which formula to use? I was able to use two of the formulas to solve a problem and had two different answers?

Re: Formula wheel

There are only two independent formulas for power. One applies to single phase (S = E x I), the other to three phase (S = E x I x 1.732). All other formulas can be derived from the two. Variations on the single phase formula include S = I x I x R and S = V x V / R. Note that I used ?S? (apparent power, in VA) instead of ?P? (real power, in watts). Multiply ?S? by ?power factor? to get ?P.?

What are the two formulas you used, what input information did you have (e.g., current or voltage or resistance values), and what are the two different answers that you got?
