We have fountains in our ponds, a floating pad with a 2 h.p. motor and prop., it is fed from a GFI breaker located about 10' from the water.
My question is I need to replace the cord feeding the motor and can't find what type of cord is needed. The cord in place now came with the system and all marking are worn off. This is a 230v 4 wire well pump and the well pump cord I can find does not have an outer jacket, would a 4 wire sjoow work?

I would start by lookin at article 400 and table 400.4. You should be able to find a cord listed for wet location in the table.
Edited to add:

SJOOW looks to be able to be used in a wet location. But if you look at the defination of "wet location" it doesn't mention anythin about being submerged. I will remove my foot after I do more research.......

Looking at 680.51(E) (NEC2005)

"Equipment shall be equipped with provisions for threaded conduit entries or shall be provided with a suitable flexible cord." Again I would say SJOOW is suitable but it can't be longer then 10ft. Lets see what others with more experience say..

Edited to add..
Found it.... Take a look at 680.56(B) it states that cord must be rated for "Extra hard usage" so I would look at T400.4 again and use something like SEOOW

Thanks for the reply, after looking at 680.56 I think the SEOOW will be best. It's the submeged part that I could not find.
And the hard usage would probably be best.
