Has anyone ever wired in an alarm float (From a water tank) to a QD franklin [model number 2801074915

[This the top diagram on page 53. Last 4=4915]
1PH 240v. The engineer wants the float to activate a red light so the customer can see the light, if the tank water reaches a specific level. Note: The Franklin panel is 240v. I will be bringing in a grounded conductor to the Franklin control box. But after that point Im lost. As I?ve never seen this type of install. The engineer can?t explain what he wants, and no real instructions on ?how to? make the connections.

Those Franklin controllers are typically used for a well pump with a pressure switch breaking one/both of the lines feeding the controller which then starts/stops the pump.

I'm not sure I understand how or why you'd want an alarm somehow tied to this.

EDIT: If all you are monitoring is a water tank level with the alarm, I'd just throw a float in there and use it to switch an alarm light. No need to tie it to the well controller, unless I'm missing something?

The QD relay is for controlling when the start winding in the submersible motor is "in the circuit", and has no other functions.

You need a float, pressure switch or other level indicating device to tell when water level reaches a certain point (high or low) to activate your alarm/light.

They are calling it an alarm light. Its the second float out of three. It sits between the very top float, and bottom float. We want be adding any new floats. Just need to know how I can make it work with the 240v franklin box. Thanks for the answers!!!

. In this case we only have the float and franklin control box. They did supply a rhombus panel, but I was instructed to install the alarm light float to the franklin panel. Seems I can terminate the float to the main (B), and go from there.

You can maybe draw power from the franklin panel to supply your own controls and indicator, but the franklin panel you mention will not control the light in manner suggested. You can tie a light to output terminals to indicate when the pump is running or even input terminals for that manner - the real "controller" of this setup is typically the pressure switch ahead of this QD panel. The only function of the QD panel is to control the current to the start winding in the motor.
