Free Ground Rod Gage

I received a free "ground rod gage" from Galvan Industries in the mail today. They can be ordered for free from thier website. They are preety simple but effective.

A local wholesale supplier who stocks Galvan rods also got his "gage" today....none of the rods he had just received from Galvan "passed" the test.

When the code and UL says 5/8", does that mean 5/8" nominal or true 5/8"? I have yet to find a ground rod, other than Galvan's and Erico's that don't fit the gage. 99% of the rods I am finding out there are just under 5/8". I really don't think that is a big deal, but Galvan is really trying to stir up some crap with this little gage.

I can get 5/8 x 8' rods for $8.

Funny thing is this guage sure doesn't look like it can measure 8' so good.
