Have a job I got called to today that involves an office with free standing office partitions that are out in the center of the room. The buildings owner does not want to get in to the expense of cutting up the floor - my first suggestion. So it's overhead, and I was just wondering if any one of you had some pics of how you've dropped down to feed something like this. I was thinking one of those power poles, but not sure if there might not be some other solutions.

Anyone have any pics of something you've done?

I just bit my tongue ouch. Power pole I dont have pics. Trust me they are ugly. They convey cheap and dirty in my opinion. If that is what they will pay for give it to them. You dont have to like it.

Wiremold should have a product for it....I've run alot of the WM3000 years back. They make other stuff that has a double raceway for power and data. You can paint to match should look pretty snazz'y

The furniture manufacturer will most likely have a product that matches the furniture for this application.
We see both the power pole and other methods used interchangably all the time. It is most likely a cost value for the customer when this decision is made.

Power poles are the cheapest alternative. For free standing partitions we typically use poke throughs with a 3" core to the ceiling below. If that's not an option then power poles are the only real cheap alternative.

We wired some this summer that came with a power pole designed for the wall it attached directly to the top of the wall at a panel that slid off.Check your manufacturer the should have something.

I don't think power poles are ugly, especially if they match the partitions in color and style. But I do get clients from time to time who don't want to see them. I have one now. Since this is a new building, we are putting sleeves in the floors before concrete is poured, on a 12 foot grid pattern. We will install poke thru's later, when the exact furniture layout is determined.

In one office, we used square white plastic rain gutter drain pipes to get the computer network cables down.

you could use that under carpet stuff, but by the time you pay for that, and the cost of carpet tiles over normal carpet, you could probably just cut the floor.
