We recently installed a High Pressuere Water Mist System for Fire Protection in a Fuel Cell Dyno area. This system is connectd to our Fire Alarm system and has been working fine. A few days ago, the Site Fire Specialist has noted a Supervisory signal that activates when the electrical frequency fluctuates above 60hz on the High Pressure Water Mist Suppression System. It has spiked as high as 207 hz. Anyt thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

The utility strives for 60.0 HZ and when all is up and running anything outside of 60 HZ is MORE THAN UNUSUAL.

Is the equipment operating properly The FA Panel and your loads?

Is this on utility or generator?

Have you connected a power analyzer?

What type of loads are you feeding?

While I hesitate to say look for harmonics, I would check for harmonics?

In the US it is all but impossible to get power from a utility that is more than just a few tenths away from 60Hz. Power delivered by a stand-alone generating device would be subject to the specifications of that device.

I would blame harmonics, but even those are usually multiples of the base 60Hz frequency.
