Frequency through 2-way radios?

When using a two way radio within about three feet of these two g.f.c.i.s in a commercial kitchen when these specific motors are plugged in ,it wants to trip the device ,channel 1 clicks slower than two and three !!!how do I upload a video?
 
Don't know that we need a video. It has taken place in other locations, Don't recall the solution but the problem is not unheard of.
 
High RF energy can trip AFCIs and GFCIs. There is some RF rejection built into the GFCI but it was not designed to prevent tripping when a portable radio is used close by.
 
Found it interesting in a product insert for a GFCI that it stated that FCC regulations says the device must accept RF interference that might give unwanted or undesirable product operation, and it must not produce any RF interference. Wondered what that would be, well here it is.
 
FWIW.
A few plus years back remember someone posting a video of two men tripping AFCI circuit breakers what I remember to be two way radios.
I could be wrong and it also could have been another internet hoax.
 
A former co-worker had a relatively high power ham radio transceiver in his car. Mercedes was one of the first adopters of anti-lock brakes, and the co-worker had read that they were susceptible to RF interference (it was improved in later models). So when he found himself driving next to a new Mercedes with no other cars around, he decided to put it to a test. After he keyed up his rig he noticed that the Mercedes was suddenly dropping behind him. :sneaky:
