It is so surreal, I feel like the person who installed the stuff was attempting to break the world record for most mismatched equipment used in an illegal install.

Not to mention there is #12 & #14 tied to each other and knob and tube all over the house......

Ivory devices
brown plate
white plate
piece of metal and drywall for support
screw in anchors for screws (didn't even notice that one...lol)
lamp cord
r20 bulb
switched pullchain
greenie on the grounded conductor.....

Apparently I'm a hack at being a hack. I always take the time and match my wire nuts when I do a shoddy install. Like SO :D

Geez the guy used a solderless pressure connector suitable for grounding
on a "Grounded" conductor. You guys are just being plain mean now!:D

I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it actually being the grounded conductor.

By the looks of the install, you might be right, it could be very well
a "Hot" connected to the screw shell. But, I'm still going to give the
guy credit for using a green wirenut and how he got one we will never know.
I have a fully stocked service truck and I can't find one.:D

My guess is that he installed his closet light during the Christmas season and was just being festive. You know, a green one, a red one, a .... If you had looked long enough, you would have found the purple/yellow Easter combo wire nuts in another closet.

I think HD sells a green wire nut with a pigtail coming out of it. If that's what he used, then he would have had to cut the pigtail off to be able to use it as he did.

If that's the case...:-?

Of course the hack cut the pigtail off the greenie. If he left it on, he would have been tied to the bare ground in the NM.....

I don't care what color the wire nuts are, I'm more concerned with it should be an enclosed fixture and at least 12 inches from the wall, weather its a closet or not. The way the connection are hanging out is a dead give away that it doesn't have a box, but then again, if it had a box, it would be out 12 inches. Looks like the average Electrician did it, Lol

PS, most of you out there are not Average, "OK"
