I have two systems using SYMO inverters on 120/208V 3Ph, each with DataManager 2 cards for remote monitoring via ModBus.

The Fronius pictorial installation guide indicates AC on first, then DC for start-up.

The ModBus requires a DataManager2 firmware update and that required a reboot. System #1 has the SYMO inverters high under a carport, AC disconnect at ground level. Update worked correctly.

System #2 has both at ground level, a step apart. After updating DataManager2 firmware, the reboot produced a consistent Error - 102 (AC voltage too high), but AC voltage was well within the range. A call to Fronius support - they suggested removing the DataManager2 card and trying again. Same problem. Went through the sequence slowly, measuring the AC line-line and Line-N, then turning on the DC and the inverter started properly? It seemed that simply measuring the voltage corrected the problem.

Turns out that a delay is needed. If the DC switch is not closed until the LCD display indicates low PV voltage (about 30 seconds), there is no error. System #1 was not a problem due to the time to climb the ladder. However, with an utility outage and PV on, there is no problem.
