Had a bunch of fsd's associated with duct detectors which is typical but now they removed all the duct detectors but left the fsd's. How is this possible? Don't you have to have the detector to activate the fsd? This is a fire alarm riser?

Not necessarily. Is there a control matrix? Could be initiated by regular smokes or anything really. I am not used to seeing FSD on exhaust though but I am not all too familiar with NFPA 91 and 92

No control matrix.

The fire/smoke dampers (FSD's) may be controlled via relay modules on an "any alarm" or "any smoke detector" input to the function block controlling said relays. Although, if that were the case, the relay modules should be showing up on the signal line circuit (SLC) loop in the riser. No one, to my knowledge, makes an addressable FSD. Why is there no control matrix? This is a basic requirement in NFPA 72 for submitting design documents for AHJ approval.

P.S. The heat detector symbols are upside down. Also, the latest edition for NFPA 170 uses a hexagon as the basic shape for alarm input devices.
