Funny noise

For a couple years now, every once in a while I heard a funny noise coming from my hallway. It only happens for a brief interval. Kind of a snapping sound. Today it did it whole I was standing under my smoke detector. Definitely coming from smoke detector.

I looked at the way the head is mounted and did not see any obvious way to remove it so may have to use a crow bar. With the noise it is making it probably does not work anyway.

Usually twist out while holding in a clip on the detector. but I have seen them use a pin that you had to pull out to remove it.
