I was just at a house this week that was built about 3 years ago. Everything looks clean and neat and was beyond code, it was definitely inspected and passed.

Oddly enough, I noticed that there were 2 natural gas forced hot air units as well as the convenience receptacle all on the same 15A circuit.

Each unit has to be on it's own dedicated circuit and the convenience receptacle has to be on a different circuit, unless I am missing something...?

It's just odd to see such a blatant violation when everything else is top notch. It makes me think that maybe I'm the crazy one :slaphead::jawdrop::dunce:

As long as the furnace is less than 50% of the branch circuit rating and instructions do not call for an individual branch circuit 210.23(A)(2) permits this.

I am guessing most furnace instructions will call for an individual branch circuit though.

I'm not following how that would supercede 422.12.

It doesn't. You're correct that each appliance should have its own circuit and the receptacle should be powered from a circuit other than the individual branch circuit supplied for each unit.
