I am working on a building that is installing long desks some 30 ft long than breaking them up into workstations the 30 fter has 7 on one side and 7 others on the other side. The plans come with instructions for two circuits for the whole length of the desk cluster one circuit iso. ground one not. Two outlets per workstation one iso one not. So thats 14 outlets on one circuit that will be used Im sure simultaneously. I have spoken to the rep. he asures me that the equip. will not draw more than 1 amp per outlet(yeah we have all heard that before). But even if so will I not be violating 220.3 (B)(8)(2). Thanks any advice is appreciated.

Re: furnature feeds???

I don't have a clear picture of the instalation. I'm thinking that 220.3(B)(9) is just barely violated.

But are you asking about multioutlet assemblies? In that case I don't think you posted enough information.

nathan1,

Going by 2005,for every 5 feet of wall space figure 180 v.a. if appliances are likely to be used simultaneously then 180v.a. per 1 foot.

Re: furnature feeds???

According to 220.14(I) the installation that Nathan1 has outlined would be a violation. According to this section the load requirement would be for 180 volt-ampere for each single, duplex or triplex receptacle on one yoke. If we assume that this is a 20 amp circuit than the maximum allowable number of duplex receptacles would be 13. (120v)(20A)= 2400va/180va=13.33. If this were a 15 amp circuit the maximum number of duplex receptacles on a circuit would be limited to 10. (120v)(15a)=1800va/180va=10
