Fuse on load side of dimmer?

Can a fuse sit on the load side of a phase dimmer?

lighting control panel (phase dimming) -> fuse limiting panel -> lighting load

I don't see why it would be a problem. Electrically speaking, everything is in series anyway.

as long as it is not a requirement for "Current Limiting". If it is just supplemental it can be anywhere..
