Hi All,
I hope everyone is having a good day. Out of curiosity. Is there any upside or downside to using a fused disconnect if it is not required. Beside price. The commercial dryer I am installing says nothing about fusible on the spec sheet, but the washer does require a fused disco. I was thinking of installing a fused disco for the dryer anyway. It’s a 3 phase 208volt 40 amp dryer. It is on a 3 phase 40 amp breaker. Have a great day.

Not really. Seems like on the specifier side of things plans always call for fused disconnects so the engineer can show power requirements without reading manufacturer specs and still not risk paying for a change order. If you're sure the breaker provides adequate protection, doing fusible would just be unnecessary cost IMO.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the input.

Jim
