Homeowner would like a pre-wire for a future pool circuit prior to finishing his basement.

Does anyone have experience on how large a circuit this should be?

I think a 20A circuit should suffice to run a pool pump.

Any ideas/experience?

Re: Future pool

Todays pool equipment can be more than just a poolpump motor, pools have heaters, jacuzzi motors, pool lights, etc. Your best bet is to find out how pricey the pool will be, you may end up having to install a sub-panel at 60amps or more, after you get the info then make the installation for future use. :)

Re: Future pool

I ran a 125 amp service to my new pool, seems to handle all the pumps, furnance (gas) and water heater for shower (instant hot 240 80 amp), then there are pool lights, pole lights ect.............

Oh yeah the wife bought this pool and I wanted nothing to do with it, first day I came home from work and had to throw the electrical contractor off the job, guess who got stuck wiring the pool.
