Looking for a source for a fuze holder that will hold 20 amp cartridge fuzes that I can mount by drilling a hole in a steel pole and mounting that enables me to trouble shoot a pole without haveing to mess with acess doors that rust, rot, corrode it is preferred to have a cap that can be opened to allow access to the fuze for replacement. We are useing them as a point of attachment to allow disableing the light and activateing gfci outlets for christmas lighting.( We have installed additional conductor for use as a neutral.)

He's looking for a fuse holder, not a spelling lesson!
Thanks sparky5646, I knew someone would say something like that sooner or later. I'm fully aware of the question asked. We are all here to learn something, and in my opinion that learning doesn't stop in the code book or trade knowledge. My point is there is nothing wrong with making a spelling correction, because it is part of the lifetime learning process.

Yes, people make many minor spelling and grammatical errors, myself included, but I believe the proper way to spell "fuse" is worth pointing out.

Consider that employers will throw a resume in the "round file" for a single spelling error.

Re: Fuze Holders for poles

Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to do? It does not sound like a typical installation. Actually, it sounds a little scary.

Re: Fuze Holders for poles

Actually its not very scary at all.
As you know most parking lot poles do not come with overprotection on each pole.
So being a church with 285,000 mini light dissplays at Chistmas we use many inovate ways of obtaing power.
What we did was individually fuse at 10 amps each of our 46 poles that are powered by 10 different timer clocks and 1 contactor that feeds 12 lights in rows of 3 lights per cb.

We got sick and tired of dismantleing every poles wiring to obtain temp power for 3 hours every day so we fused the ballast portion( Temp dismantleing the light) and ran an extra number 10 to every 4 lights. Drilled a hole in the post nippled it with 1/2" pvc male adapters to a 8X8X4" box on each light as the lights are 120 volt we diverted the power thru the nipple to a box on which we mounted 2 duplex 20amp GFCIs in 2 gang bell boxs with bubble covers for rain protection.
What I am looking for is a fuse holder we can mount with the cover exterior of the 8x8 box. Cause when we overload you got to unplug, take the cover off test each of the 2 fuse holders to find the defective fuse we unplug all lights trouble-shoot the holders replace the blown fuse with the correct size( I have the only key to the room where the fuses are stored)
Then we put our amp tester we had manufactured for us test the light assy to make sure it is safe then replug it back in.

As you can see this is very time consumeing and I end up spending the 2 hours running all over our proprty changeing fuses and T/S problems.
So what I am looking for is a 20 15 or 10 amp fuse holder I can mount on the 8x8 box to change without disassembling everything.
This is a temporary situation from 8 pm to 10 PM every night till christmas it is awesome to behold. It is our Churchs way of saying GLORY TO GOD HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
Now please dont give me nonsense about things that dont count we are safe and well supervised and deemed safe by the city we live in.
All I am looking for is a simple fuse holder to hold cartidge fuses that I can mount on the side of the 8x8 box Many thanks.

Seems we have had this conversation before.

Anyway, how about a 2 pole fusible rain tight disconnect?

Re: Fuze Holders for poles

Great idea but can they be modofoed to make them tamper proof we have people driving thru our acreage looking at the lights and I am afraid someone might get out of a car and open them and good by Church ( Way too many snake lawyers in Florida. :)

Re: Fuze Holders for poles

Kinda silly isnt it disconnects cost $27.00 each X 47 poles + the cost of fuses now the cost of padlocks.
Somebody needs a course in economics?????

Re: Fuze Holders for poles

Straps just order the Bussman HLR holder and the GMF fuse at the amperage you need. These fuses are rated at 300 vac and have a interrupt rating of 10.000 amps, And are the very same fuses installed by many manufactures in many HID fixtures. They only require a hole for mounting and can be mounted right inside of the handhold on a little piece of metal.
Don't forget to order the retainer clip for the holder to mount it.

Click on the link above to Bussman and go to page 43
