In sending in all necessary forms for exam acceptance I've noticed that one of the forms is a lifetime criminal background check.

What exactly are they looking for and can they deny you because of your past criminal history? Well obviously they CAN but what would constitute a denial? How long after the offenses have passed would you have to wait if you are denied? Or are you automatically denied upon certain offenses no matter how long ago they may have occurred?

Thanks.

All these questions can usually be answered at the State web site pertaining to the license, if not then they are in your State Status, or common law(s) of your State.

Sounds like you're out of luck if you've had a felony conviction even if it was 20 years ago. It doesn't matter that you've been training hard and have made the electrical profession your career goal.

Looks like you're screwed even if the conviction has been wiped off your record under the first offender act.

This seems wrong in so many ways. It is what it is I guess.

According to the other thread by another member about this, it looks like I could go down to Florida and get a license there as the past conviction has nothing to do with electrical work.
