Replaced the plastic gear drive on a 1/3 HP Liftmaster Professional garage door opener, a straightforward task I've done before. However, since this was at a house I just moved into, and my tools were at my old place, I performed the task (including unscrewing the gear drive and reconnecting the new part) with a small (5/16") crescent hand wrench. I didn't have a socket wrench with me. So I very likely touched some wires and maybe even the mother board. When I plugged the unit back in, there was a spark at the outlet in the ceiling and the circuit breaker immediately tripped. It tripped immediately, so it did its job protecting the circuit and wiring. The outlet is good, I plugged some small appliances into it and they operate as expected. The breaker for the garage door lights and openers now trips immediately if I plug the opener that I did the work on in. Suggesting there is a short in the garage door opener itself. Where do I look and how do I resolve this?
