I'm in the process of getting a detached 24x24 garage built. I have a 100 amp main in the house and plan on installing a sub panel in the garage. It will be about a 80'-100' run. Because of cost and availability, it was better just to get a 100 amp main circuit breaker rated panel. But I don't think I will need close to that load capacity so to save money on the wiring run I'm planning on feeding it with a 60 amp breaker from the house. I plan on having 1 240v 40A circuit for 7500 watt electric heater (that will only be used sporadically in winter), 1 15A lighting circuit, 3 20A receptacle circuits, 1 20A circuit for outdoor light and recept by door. The only permanent motor would be a garage door opener. Would a 60A feed be enough?
