garbage disposal switch

Are there any special requirements as to where a switch for the
garbage disposal should be when the disposal is on an island in the kitchen--
height ect.

No. If the switch serves as the required disconnecting means, accessibility requirements apply. Other normal installation requirments for the wiring, boxes, and the switch itslef apply.

I like to use air switches for garbage disposals. Mount it right next to the sink. No need to worry about turning on the disposal when you wanted to turn on the lights.

It is a switch that works on air pressure. The control plugs into the receptacle under the sink. Easy to install and seems to work well. I have put in two within the past three months.
