Gas bond question

When bonding the metal gas piping in a house is it permissible to run a jumper from the nearest metal water supply line to the metal gas line (with clamps), or is it required to run the jumper all the way from the panel to gas pipe?

What type of gas pipe? Black pipe doesn't require external bonding so you can bond it any way that you like. CSST would be different.

I would say you need to either tap the GEC or run the bonding conductor back to the panel. What if somebody replaced some water pipe with PEX behind your water pipe to gas pipe connection?
