I have an E/C with a number of years experience doing an installation at a gas station and he is doing something different from the normal here and he has give me a point to ponder on which I need assistance.
For many years E/Cs here have run the power to gasoline dispensers in a totally separate conduit from all other wiring. In this case, the E/C is installing the pump power wiring and wring he identifies as "data" in the same conduit. (His speakers and leakage monitoring data are in other conduits). I questioned this on my first inspection and he pointed out his conduit is terminating in a X-proof J box within the dispenser which does indeed contain corresponding wiring to match his.
My first thought is he is Exception 2 of 725.130(A) in that he is installing all Class 1 wiring methods. The point of termination on the interior of the station is not installed so I am unable to verify the 725.124 portion of the Exception.

Has anyone encounter this and found that his combining of the circuity is acceptable ??
