Re: gas/electric range

Maybe if Allen's company didn't waste so much in frivolous spending, they could wire 100 homes and make the same net profit as the 2500 we always hear about.

Allen maybe you should go in and explain business 101 to the owners. :D

Re: gas/electric range

If somebody decides to replace a gas/electric stove with a straight electric stove then a 50 amp receptacle is needed.

If I ever make enough money to own a house I would want an electric oven and a gas countertop unit. Electric ovens throw less heat into the room and the self cleaning feature helps a lot. Gas countertop units can cook things faster but I would only have it if the fuel is natural gas. Propane costs about as much as reistance heat and also poses some safety problems. If you shut off propane at the tank you still have considerable pressure downstream that has to be bled off before a laek will stop leaking.

I also got cut out of wiring an 8,000 square foot house this past summer. These people were told by a General Electric brochure that their double oven unit only required a 30 amp branch circuit and 10/3 cable. I went over to Home Depot to look at their GE double ovens and guess what? Needs a 40 amp branch circuit and 8/3 wire. I have already told this exCUSStomer that if want my integrity and expertise again he has to pay me $100 per hour in advance. If I cannot be the lowest bidder then I might as well be the highest bidder.
