Have a range that uses gas and electric...2.8 kw, 240, im running a 12/3 w ground to it...question is, since it isn't fastened in place, i need a means of disconnect at the unit....you guys think that i can just use a 50 amp range outlet and attachment cord for this application, or do they make a special setup for this?

Assuming you need a neutral a NEMA 14-20R and a 14-20P would do it.

Or twist locks L14-20R and L14-20P

Did you mean 12-3 romex or SO cord? I don't believe romex is allowed w/ a receptacle cap.

You could hard wire it with a 30A or 60A 240V non-fusible pull-out disconnect or a permanently installed breaker lock-out (if your AHJ allows it). Either of these choices would be less expensive than a receptacle & cap.
