Many times with Knob And Tube you discover a box that used to hold device in place with Molly screws the box has no 6/32 or 8/32 screw holes tapped in the ears

Normally you just open up the wall replace the box if you have to

Sometimes you can tap into holes in the main junction box behind the mud riding in his long screws and fasteners way to there sometimes you can tap a new holes in the main junction box behind the mud riding in his long screws and fasten all the way to there

Anybody else's of any other tricks image.jpgimage.jpg

I don't know if I've seen a box like that it looks like it has a completly open back with the gas line running thru it.

Usually I come across a pan box with side entry clamps and gas line runs thru KO in the back of box. Sometimes the box is mounted with locknut or cap on gas line and sometimes it just runs thru the KO and will have a reducing fitting for 1/4"-3/8" threaded tube that the light fixtures use for mounting.
