Gas pipe grounding special clamp needed?

Got a call from an HVAC guy, gas appliance was replaced and the new appliance has a short 'flex line' connection, the old one had a solid black pipe connection. The remaining black gas line in the building is now not bonded to the electrical other than thru the flex gas line that hits the unit frame.
Inspector is saying the flex line is not approved for grounding.
HVAC is asking for a 'bonding jumper' from the appliance jbox to the black pipe,
There is some other electrical work for me to do there and HVAC guy is asking me to do this while I am there.
Circuit is a 20A so can I just wirenut some #12 green on the equipment ground in the jbox and jump to a standard 'water pipe clamp' on the black pipe? Or do I need a special clamp?
Or do I need to run a #6 from the GEC to the black pipe out at the gas meter?

Thanks all
Happy Friday

Any listed pipe clamp will work as long as it's used within it's listing for example listed for black pipe. If there is no mechanical metal connection between the piping and the gas appliance how could the appliance possibly energize the gas pipe?

Thanks I was planning on using one of the cheap water pipe clamps you see at home improvement stores and some #12, I presume if its listed for galvanized plumbing pipe black pipe should be ok?

Inspector considers any solid metallic pipe run thru a building 'likely to be energized', and requires an electrical ground clamp or solid pipe connection to appliance. I am not up on the code sections might also be mechanical code.

Not in the NEC but just do what you've said and get paid for it.

We often also have water meters in basements and have to run a ground jumper around the meter.
