Gas shot up to over $5 a gallon here in NC today, some cities in SC are saying they are out of gas for up to a week. What are other areas seeing?

BTW, this gouging by the gas companies needs to be stopped, I thought there were laws against this.

is this over $5 for premium or just 87 octane?

Heard on the radio today where ConocoPhillips was shutting down the refinery down at Sweeny Tx due to Huricane Ike. There are several refieneries down on the TX coast so get ready....Gas here is still in the $3.39 range, but I suspect it will jump quickly, in fact I think I'll go fill everything up fast.....AND diesel is down to around $3.77 but it will go up also...I'll fill it too

That is the reason for the extra price jump......people panic and fill up when it's not needed and the price goes up! Chill for a few day's if you have enough to get by and the price will drop.

Around here, the weather "person" can say "snow" and the bread and milk is all gone, prices jump, then the suckers have stale bread and spoiled milk..........

Local stations are running out because everyone is panicking and topping off their tanks.....

What is with that? I am a yankee transplant and for the life of me I cant figure out why they buy milk and bread down here if it might snow, Weirdest thing.

Candles, firewood, canned hams, those I can understand, but bread and milk?????

same thing here. about $5 for regular. i stopped at a gas station at 7AM this morning and they had a $10 limit on gas purchases, which was just enough to get me to the next gas station. The woman told me @ 7AM when I paid $3.65/gal that it would be $5/gal by afternoon. there was pretty much panic by the end of the day and the average wait at a gas pump was about half an hour, that is if they hadn't already run out. I saw a lot of gas station with the pumps closed. the pipeline comes in about 75 miles from here. the guys running the pipeline said it would be up to two weeks before fuel comes through it again. i am going to be buried in work next week and now i'm not even sure i'll be able to get the fuel to do my work.

Zog everybody buys that stuff because if we get 6 in. of snow they expect to be snowed in for a week. Suckers!!!!!

3.55 in central PA for 87. who knows I might wake up and it will be $5.

I'm not a rocket scientist but I guess this is what happens when your major source for drilling and refining is in the gulf region. All the more reason to expand drilling and refining to another coast.

Hurricanes in the gulf what are the odds.

my brother called from fernandina; its $3.86 there, which is just over on the atlantic coast NE of jacksonville.

In Louisville we had a .30 jump today for Reg, 87, to $3.99 and expected to hit $4.50 by the end of the Weekend.

Some stations have run out of gas.

I filled my Van yesterday at $3.64 for a total of $110.10.

that's where he's at. they have a condo over there.

looks like the governer just found out what's happening down here and earlier tonight signed an anti-gouging order so prices should be back down tomorrow. usually the only time this takes effect is during a state of emergency, which we are not under, so the station owners were free to jack it as high as they wanted.

Gosh

I bet Uncle sam really hates that, after all for the last few years or so he's been getting twice as much tax.

I think we all should use as little as possible.

Please feel free to remove this if you want to I will understand :)

i've certainly tried; not too hard to cut back my consumption during personal time, but during working hours its inevitable that one will use massive amounts of fuel running a service truck.

This does suck. I"m heading to Vicksburg, MS for a job. I guess it's just a little hop, skip and a jump from PA :) Stupid gas prices........
