Gas range w/ electric broiler

Was a bit surprised with the following
Purchased a new 30” gas range and installed it yesterday.

The broiler feature turns out to be electric.
1300 watt element.

Looks like going forward on new construction I will start installing a dedicated circuit for the gas range igniter as opposed to including it with the microwave recep in the cabinet above the range.

I was always under the assumption that with a gas range power was only required for the controls and lights.

I could see easily overloading a 20 A circuit with a microwave and broiler element together.

Instruction booklet for the range lists having a 15A 120V 3 prong receptacle.

It suggests a dedicated circuit but does not actually say it’s required.

How many watts is the microwave? I see a few that are only 1000 watts. 1000+1300=2300. 20 amp circuit=2400 watt limit.

We always run 15 amp dedicated circuits for gas ranges unless the spec sheet calls for a 20 amp.

422.16(B)(4)(3) requires the receptacle for the micro/hood to be on an individual branch circuit.

This sounds like a job for a MWBC.
Not anymore due to AFCI & GFCI.

Would a MW with a hood qualify as a hood? The article doesn't mention a combo unit.

I don't have a code book past the 2017, so that must be later.

Lately, I always run a 20A dedicated circuit for a gas range. It's not just ignitors and controls anymore. They can have convection ovens and here we have electric broilers. You never know.
