Gate Opener GFCI or not?

Should a 120vt gate opener on a chain link gate located adjacent to a patio area accessible to the homeowner and family be GFCI protected by code? Will the GFCI cause problems for the electric motor?

The GFCI won't cause any problems in regards to the motor. They will get along happier than Gomer Pyle and a wheel barrow of butt-holes.

As long as the gate opener does not plug into a 120V recpt then no GFCI required.

I have never installed a gfci on a gate opener and see no need for it unless- as mentioned it plugs in. I also have never seen a gate motor that plugged in
