Hi,
I ran into a situation where I needed to change the grounding electrode and upsize the grounding electrode conductor on an old house. In this situation there is the meter mounted on the outside of the house with the service entrance conductors running about 30ft to the main panel inside the house. This is where the service disconnect is- the main breaker. It does not have any sort of disconnecting means at the meter socket on the outside of the house. The grounding electrode and conductor are near the meter and are bonded to the neutral conductor. At the main panel the neutral and equipment grounds are also bonded. I was wondering if I would need to run an equipment ground back to the main panel from the meter where the grounding electrode is? And if so what would be the code reference for that? Thanks a bunch.
