I'm installing a new panel and i'd like to know if you agree here. i'm connecting the #4 bare to ground lug which is connected to service neutral at meter. i'm dropping down bottom of 1/2ko with romex clamp. thru wall below panel. exit hole in wall to ground rod w/clamp @ 1ft.from wall. I sleeved the gec with 1/2 emt.from ground rod to just inside the stucco wall.to protect from damage. other end of bare #4 goes to cold water pipe running thru top of panel (one of those pre punched 1/4 holes at top of panel) with clamp.

Re: gec connections

If you install the GEC in EMT, the EMT must be bonded at each end to the GEC. See 250.64.
$ AWG is considered suitable for protection from physical damage, but if you are concerned, use SCH 80 PVC

Re: gec connections

tom, thanks i was wondering about that. if emt is used it has to be continous to panel and then grounding bushings w/lugs to bar.i'll have to get some sch 80 instead.I think it looks nicer if the #4 isn't exposed on the wall. and my access below the panel is limited.I have to do the stucco patching!
