Suppose you had a transformer with an EGC from the service that was sized in compliance with 250.122 and 250.66.

Could the EGC for the transformer also serve as the GEC for the SDS?

I don't see why not as long as there is not an electrode available in the area where the SDS is installed. 250.30(A)(7). I don't see any electrical reason for a GEC when the SDS is installed in the same building as the OCPD for the feeder for the SDS. It is my opinion that the primary EGC would serve the purpose, but CMP 5 did not agree with me.
