I thought I saw a thread or post that talked about running a GEC in conduit with other conductors. I reread Part III and did a search.

Was I dreaming?

I didn't pay much attention when(if) I read it because I never thought I'd need to. Now I have an install where it would be an option.

Just had a thought check 230.

If anyone can help that would be great!

You are permitted to run a GEC through a raceway with other conductors. Keep in mind 250.64(E) though if you are going to be using a ferrous metal raceway.

Thanks Chris its RNC. You don't have to look it up but off the top of your head is it in 250 or 230?

250.64 gives you the requirements for the installation of the GEC.

The NEC doesn't prohibit the installation of a GEC within a raceway with other conductors, so therefore if it isn't prohibited then it is allowed.

I think I should give a more details.

I installed an 800A ATS outside an existing bldg. I have 3 sets of four 300's and a 1/0 egc going back to the existing 1600 A MDP. This is where I need to demo the bonding jumper and hit the existing grounding electrode system with my new 3/0.

So 2 couduits will have four 300's and a 1/0.

The 3rd conduit will have four 300's a 1/0 and the 3/0 GEC.

So now I'm looking through 300 here. I don't see any violations but I'm still not comfortable with this.

A ground is not considered a conductor. Unless I'm mistaken.
Grounding Electrode Conductor.

But thanks. I can't say I didn't look at the current carring conductor angle.
