Geeen MC for lights ?

Hi
The Inspector walked our medical project in Los Angeles and said,
The lights at the ceiling mounted at 10 foot high drywalls also has to be supplied / wiring with green mc cable that have extra copper insulated conductors

is this correct????
where in code??????

He is not correct, the insulated conductor is not necessary but a sheath that is recognized as an EGC per 250.118 is, see exception No 2 to 517.13(B)

The inspectors advice is commonplace here and, as Roger notes, it is not an accurate reply.
In that the "green MC" (HCF Cable) meets the requirements he notes and it is most likely already at use on the job, inspectors often "shortcut" and simply state "use that cable" rather than go into an explanation
