typical 200amp resi
generator is a standard 8hp w/ L14-30 twist plug240/120 4-wire

If one is installing a generator subpanel next to the main panel,(with appropiate breaker interlocks) -

Would you splice each individual 12ga neutral in the main pain and bring each to the supanel neutral bar?
OR -
leave all of the neutrals in place on the main panel. and just splice the hot conductors in and out?

If the branch circuit conductors are pretty much staying in the main panel, can't you treat the trip to the transfer switch and back like a switch loop? In order to be correct, I think you'd need all the ungrounded conductors going to/from the transfer switch in one conduit, and the neutral from the generator also in that same conduit. This may be so many conductors that derating becomes an issue unless this is a short raceway.

If you have to split them into groups, then I think you'll have a hard time complying.
