I have a residential customer with with about 100' run from the location generator to the transfer switch and panel location. Would it be OK to run aluminum wire or should it be copper?

Good luck with their neutral bar.. the morons have a neutral bar that won't even accept a #3 CU unless you fight like hell with it..:rant:

Sometimes I wonder if the "engineers" ever get feedback from the guys out in the field..

Seems they are too busy making money instead of making a product that had a little common sense attached to it..:rant:

Generac's breakers and ATS are rated for copper. They are not duel rated.
Where does it say that CEB? I'm looking at my transfer switch manual and it states that if you are using aluminum wire be sure to use a corrosion inhibitor. If they start producing these units made for copper only we're in deep $=!+.;) BTW, that little copper ground bar at the bottom left corner of the xfer switch is not rated for aluminum wire (if that's what you were referring to ).

You could be right on the smaller units. The commercial/industrial units 25 Kw and up that I install all state on the breaker copper only.
