General Contractors Licensed for Electrical?

Many states now have licensing requirements for electricians. I know in Calif if you have a C10 contractors license and go to work for another electrical contractor you are required to obtain the state electricians license in addition to the contractors license you already hold. I am wondering how this effects a General Contractors ability to do electrical work without hiring a licensed electrician, not just in Calif but in other states as well.

In Idaho the GEC would have to also have a EC license and one employee who is licensed journeyman.

In all the New England states except Massachusetts an electrical contractors license is required to do electrical work. A GC could do electrical work so long as he has an EC license as well, and stays within ratio and any other state requirements while doing the actual work.

Sorry but does not effect/affect the GC in CAlif. ( kida rediculous)
You can thank the IBEW and the IEC for this. They so much wanted EC's employees to be certified they were willing to settle. The IBEW did not care because in a union job the GC cannot perform electrical work.
They Hosed the CA EC's
It only is a issue if you are an employee of the EC company.
If you are a Sub or a partner of the EC it is of no consequence.
