Is anyone familiar with General Electric Vulkene 600V cable? I ran across it as service entrance cable into a building, but can find almost nothing online about it. My main question is it copper or aluminum wire?

Vulkene was introduced in the late 50's - early '60's! It was used for virtually in all types of installations, i.e., in air, conduit or duct, direct-burial, and interlocked Armor!

For the installations above, copper was used, but, I think Aerial cable was available in Aluminum!

Thanks. I took a picture of the cable assuming I could look it up to identify it is either CU or AL (see attached). My other pictures do not confirm CU or AL and I need to verify. Any help would be appreciated.

We used SI-58063 which had a copper conductor! (I recall at the iime of installation, Aluminum was a No-No!

But, to be sure I suggest you contact Cablec Corp, who, in 1986, won the right to manufacture 'Vulkene-Insulated' cable from GE!
